After extensive studies, tests and practical application in the field, Electronicon are proud to present their range of gas filled MKP power capacitors: MKPg. This new technology provides the same outstanding technical performance, same well proven safety and reliability in operation as with our previous range of MKP power capacitors with resin filling. In addition, it offers the following important advantages:

• environmentally friendly

The gas is inert and entirely harmless to environment
When disposing of the capacitors, no liquids or toxic gasses need to be considered

• leakage-proof and safe
  

  A leakage of gas is extremely unlikely if the capacitors are handled and operated properly. It is now possible to mount these capacitors in any desired position.

  However, should leakage occur, the leaking gas would escape into the atmosphere causing no undesirable effects to the adjacent equipment, e.g. damage, pollution, or staining. In the long run, such an unlikely event would result in a degradation of the capacitance, however, this process would take many months, during which the capacitor remains functional.

  Even in the event of internal failure of the capacitor, such as a permanent overload, or   a non-healing dielectric break-down, the internal rise of pressure would happen with sufficient strength and speed to trigger the overpressure break-action mechanism: in other words, even in the event of gas leakage, the safety mechanism of the capacitor will remain functional.

Electronicon have approval from CSA (Canada) and UL (U.S.A.) for which certificates are available. As per other manufacturers the units conform to IEC 60831-1+2 and VDE 0560-46/47

Electroparts are the sole agents for Electronicon Cylindrical Capacitors and locally manufacture the Avanti boxed capacitors as well as the "E" Rack and Thrifty Fifty systems. We can also manufacture non standard boxed capacitors for replacement purposes.
